Istanbul trip

I was in Istanbul last week…my thoughts and photos.

Ataturk may have moved the capital to Ankara, but his heart was in Istanbul

The city hits all the senses – kaleidoscope, a city in which the picture can change dramatically in a few seconds, depending on where you’re viewing.

I found a raw energy and a sense of experimentation that sanitised, western capitals have lost. This is a city with a hunger and capacity for change, for embracing the new.

The Blue Mosque, which on first sight struck me like the kind of architecture that you might find in a science fiction film – I have named it in my mind as the ‘mother ship’

‘hubbly-bubbly’ or Sultans favourite. Istanbul has it all.

Great photos. I like the one with the pigeons especially.
