We are delighted to announce that we have been awarded the titles for John Michael McDonagh‘s new film ‘Calvary‘ and pen to parchment is underway.

Brendan Gleeson Calvary

Calvary‘ is a black comedy-drama, telling the tale of Father James Lavelle (Brendan Gleeson), a good-natured priest intent on making the world a better place who is continually disheartened by the spiteful inhabitants of his small country town. When his life is threatened during confession, he is forced into battle with the dark forces that start to close in on him.

Calvary Cast

Also written by John, the film stars Brendan Gleeson (In Bruges), Chris O’Dowd (The Boat That Rocked) and Aiden Gillen (The Dark Knight Rises), as well as Dylan Moran (Shaun of the Dead) and is John’s second following on from his director debut film ‘The Guard‘.

In a recent interview John said;

It is with great excitement, bordering on tumescence, that I am looking forward to collaborating once more with Ireland’s greatest actor, Brendan Gleeson, and working with the finest ensemble cast ever assembled in the history of Irish cinema.

We are really pleased to be part of this production and look forward to sharing updates with you as we proceed.
