Viking by The Callis brothers

Viking Short Film

What a huge pleasure to be asked by Sam and Ben Callis (Breakneck Films) to get involved in designing the titles for their new short film Viking.

Teaming up again with editor Ian Cunningham (Vampire Academy) to collaborate on the titles was, as always, great fun. And we are all really pleased with the end results.

Starring Sophie Thompson (EastEnders), Andrew Lancel (Casualty) and Joseph May (Resident Evil), and produced by Ben, Louise Gray-Murray (Fauna Sauna) and Jo Lewis (Whisper). Viking confronts the cause of Cathy’s (Sophie) disastrous life, which held together with weak aphorisms and cheap mysticisms has left her stumbling through the last twenty five years, estranged and vainly searching for herself. Finally returning home brave enough to tackle her brutal but ailing father, she’s too late and he’s already dead. Denied closure she determines that he must still pay for his brutality and, commits to a darkly comic revenge.

Sam and Ben’s first time collaboration on their debut film

Although they have followed very different career paths; Ben Callis an award winning Creative Director in advertising; Sam Callis a highly successful actor on stage and screen, their different backgrounds have brought something very special and unique to their film.

They say that this experience of working together has made them realize that they share a common vision when making film, but that their different perspectives make it exciting and always adds a twist to the creative process.

Viking Titles

Having already had such positive feedback with Viking they are now developing several new film scripts.

Excited for the film getting a well deserved release, we look forward to sharing our work very soon.

KAJAKI – The True Story

Kajaki Header What a real pleasure to design the title sequences for KAJAKI, and to do our part towards such an important film, and cause.

Directed by Paul Katis (Starting Over), and produced by both Paul and Andrew de Lotbinère (Girlfriend in a Coma) at Pukka Films, along with Oscar Winner Gareth Unwin (The King’s Speech, Zaytoun).

KAJAKI – The True Story was shot on location in Jordan for six weeks in the summer of 2014, and will be released in late 2014 to mark the withdrawal of British forces from Afghanistan this year, and in recognition of the valour displayed there. The film will be released exclusively through Vue Cinemas on November 28th 2014. The film will also receive its World Premiere in London on November 12th 2014 at the Vue West End Cinema. Additional preview screenings will follow at Vue cinemas in Edinburgh (November 17th), Glasgow (18th), Leeds (24th) and Bristol (25th), attended by the filmmakers, actors from the film and their real life counterparts from those cities.

All revenue from ticket sales for the Premiere and pre-release screenings, and a portion of the profits from the film’s subsequent release, will benefit equally four military charities – Help for Heroes, Walking with the Wounded, The Royal British Legion and The Hashemite Commission for Disabled Soldiers.
